Lt. Essica Cage-Rosario

Lieutenant Essica Cage-Rosario currently serves as the first African-American female President of the Memphis Police Association (MPA) representing over 2,000 members of the Memphis Police Department.

A lifelong Memphian, Essica is a graduate of Whitehaven High School and Christian Brothers University with a BA in Applied Psychology ('03) and an MBA with a Public Administration concentration ('06). Essica is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

A teenage mother from South Memphis, Essica joined the Memphis Police Department in 1997 at the age of 18 as a Police Service Technician. After becoming an officer in 2000, Essica was assigned multiple units of the police department, earning the respect of both her peers and the community she served.

In 2012 Essica was elected Vice President of the MPA, where she served for 8 years until recently being appointed President- the first woman to hold either position. Essica and her husband Michael currently reside in Memphis, and she is a mother to 2 sons-Christian, a recent college graduate and 2LT in the United States Army, and Tyler, a freshman at the Soulsville Charter School. Tyler is a proud alumnus of Grizzlies Prep.
